Tonal music is very different from traditional music. Whereas traditional music is solely meant to entertain, tonal musics purpose is to promote healing at all levels of experience and open up the doorway for entry into the spiritual realm of awareness.

Through the tones you begin to experience facets of your psyche that have been un- known that take you deeply into the celestial presence of all power, all love, all peace and the awareness of your unique creation. Through these tones you began to have a greater understanding of your Source, the Universe, and the many kindred spirits that are joined with us.

MEDITATION

Meditation is a simple natural, life enriching process that allows the conscious experience of exploring all levels of consciousness. This process creates a place that can take you beyond the every day world of sensory experiences into dimensions of untapped potential and resources. Benefits of meditation are:

1. Reduction of stress.

2. Strengthening of the immune system.

3. Increased emotional calm.

4. Intelligence increases.

5. Problem solving capacity becomes clearer and more refined

6. Increased intuitive awareness.

How to meditate:

1. Find a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed for 20-30 minutes.

2. Loosen any restrictive clothing or jewelry.

3. Put on soft relaxing music

4. Take in some deep breaths and allow yourself to relax. Where you feel tension in the body…breath into those areas and in your mind imagine that the breath allows these areas to release. 5. Once your body is feeling relaxed, focus your attention on your breath. When you find that your mind starts to wonder bring your attention back to your breathing until your mind is no longer chattering.

6. If your mind is totally still may just sit and experience the stillness. If your mind is still unfocused, imagine yourself immersed in a beautiful cloud of energy that is allowing you to freely soar through time an space; or imagine yourself in a peaceful place, i.e. by a lake, sitting in a garden or on a mountain and just allow the visualization to take its own course of development.

7. Whenever you feel that you’ve completed, gently allow your focus to return to the room.

8. Sit quietly for a few moments and reflect on your meditative experience.

Meditation Tips:

1. Meditate at a specific time each day. 2. When initially starting don’t become discouraged if you fall asleep. You’ll be able to stay with the process the more you practice. It is helpful to find a comfortable sitting position rather than to lay down. 3. If sitting 20-30 minutes is difficult, give yourself permission to sit for 5-10-15 minutes to start. As you become accustomed to this practice sitting still for longer periods of time will become easier. 4. Try not to meditate on a full stomach. 5. Be persistent, consistent and determined. If any one can successfully experience meditation…you can too. WHAT A COURSE IN MIRACLES IS NOT!

There have been many individuals that have asked me about A Course in Miracles. I respond that the Course’s goal is to re-establish peace. I know that my answer may seem vague and simplistic, but I think that is due to a lack of awareness of what peace really is. Peace, is awareness that in our relationship with God and our brother, everything has been provided. In my next article I will address the meaning of Peace. 

Rather than elaborate at this time of what A Course in Miracles is, I think it is more meaningful to talk some about what is not:

1. A Course in Miracles is not a self-help formula, but rather a formula of self-remembrance.
2. A Course in Miracles is not written to help you find happiness because only you can decide to be happy.
3. A Course in Miracles is not written for you to find comfort in your past memories of yourself, but to release you from your past beliefs about yourself.

4. A Course in Miracles is not a text that you can understand simply by reading, but must be lived and experienced.

5. A Course in Miracles is not a religious text it goes far beyond religion.
6. A Course in Miracles is not written to support your belief in guilt, but reminds each individual that there is nothing between them and the Creator but love.

7. A Course in Miracles is not written to validate the numerous reasons that exist for being separated and alien from your brother (all humanity).

8. A Course in Miracles does not condemn your ego, but simply states that your ego does not exist at all. It is merely a mistaken idea that a separation from your Creator and yourself could happen at all.

9. A Course in Miracles is not about healing your body, but instead is a text on healing your mind.
10. A Course in Miracles is not about becoming comfortable with what you think life offers, but instead stretches your mind in remembering that there is nothing that is denied you.

11. A Course in Miracles is not about spiritual levels of consciousness, but of awakening to what you have always been and realizing that there is nothing else to be done.

12. A Course in Miracles is not about being/becoming special, but it holds that there was only one Creation and all of God’s Creations were included. Each of us has equal participation in all that God has given. 

13. A Course in Miracles is not about being more in control or our life, environment, relationships and abundance instead it constantly asks for us to be “willing” (surrender) all that we think is true so that we can be reminded of what truth is.

14. A Course in Miracles not a new-age concept of “doing” spirituality but is a training device that allows you to come into a spiritual state of “being”. 

15. A Course in Miracles is not easy to assimilate because it asks us to give up what we think we know about our emotions, our intellect and self-actualization. In fact it clearly states that we don’t know what anything is for; we don’t know our own best interest; that we don’t know what we are really upset about; and we see only the past!

16. A Course in Miracles is does not assist you in making this world meaningful, but instead reminds you that the reason that you experience pain, limitation, illness, war, and alienation is because you think this world has meaning.

17. A Course in Miracles is not an individual achievement course. It says that there is no achievement unless you take someone with you. The message is inclusive and unless everyone is included there has been little gained in the process. 

You may be wondering, “Why would anyone want to study A Course in Miracles? I can personally only answer for myself. I studied because this world did not offer me the answers that I was seeking. One of the greatest realizations that I have experienced in my life is when I realized that this world did not have my answers. At that time I knew that my answers lay somewhere in my Mind, only I couldn’t remember how to access them. I can remember praying for help in remembering. For me, A Course in Miracles brought my answers. As a result, I have experienced peace, love, joy and abundance that I was seeking. Perhaps you will achieve the same experience.

A COURSE IN MIRACLES WHAT IS PEACE?

In this world it is believed that peace has an opposite and that opposite is war/conflict. The meaning of peace has taken on the symbol of a temporary cessation of war. War is believed to be an inevitable outcome of human behavior. In fact, many people would state that war is good for the economy, population control and re-defining strategic lines of political power. In mankind believing that there is a value for war/conflict there can never be an experience of peace.

War/conflict is a result of fear; a belief that there is not enough abundance, prosperity and love for all of mankind. Fear has only one opposite … love. Peace is an attribute of love and does not “know” any opposite. Peace is a state of mind. A mind that knows what it is and has a clear awareness and understanding that opposites do not exist. A mind at peace knows that its will and God’s will are the same. A mind at peace knows only the love that is always eternally present. A mind at peace has no need for judgment because love extends far beyond judgments to embrace and bless all of God’s creations. A mind at peace knows the truth and in knowing the truth has no need for thoughts and so is very still.

A mind at peace knows only abundance and therefore cannot attack others or itself. A mind at peace transcends time and therefore only experiences miracles that are not limited by time. A mind at peace is “whole” and cannot experience separateness outside of itself. It knows only oneness. A mind at peace can only hear the voice of God. A mind at peace has forgiven all of its misperceptions of fear, hate, envy, guilt, etc. as being real. Coming into a state of peace requires consistent and diligent practice and a willingness to “see things differently.” In practicing peace we begin to teach peace and in teaching peace, we learn peace. In this world, our relationship with others and with ourselves is just a reflection of the conflict within our own minds. In practicing we begin to recognize forgiveness as the key to letting the belief in our past go — the past that has judged our brothers and ourselves as being guilty, unworthy, victims, aggressors, weak and failures. There is no r­eason in eternity to deny us the experience of peace…right now

INTRODUCTION TO: A COURSE IN MIRACLES

A Course in Miracles, by its’ own definition, is a mind training program.
It is its’ position is that the reason there is pain, disease, suffering,
guilt and attack present in this world is because mankind has forgotten it
natural being as Sons’ of God. The remedy for this is to retrain the mind
to a different way of perceiving the self, others and God. A Course In
Miracles would assert that all of the answers to individual dilemmas are
held in the mind and with different perceptions not only would these
dilemmas change but so would the whole world. In the workbook section, of
The Course, the curriculum is given for retraining. There are 365 lessons,
which are to be done consecutively, one a day. You are not asked to
understand the lessons, nor are you asked to believe the lessons you are
asked just to do them and they will led to a greater experience of peace,
joy and connection with God.

In 1961 there was a need for me to have an emergency surgery. While the
surgical team was getting ready for the procedure, having been administered
a sedative, I was left alone in the operating room. I remember being very,
very cold and while still being unconscious decided that I needed to know
why. I found myself outside of my body looking down and saw that I had been
left on the table without any clothes. I was not happy! I had nothing on
but a pair of bright rust knee high stockings. Not only was I embarrassed
by my nakedness, those socks looked absolutely ridiculous without the
accompanying garments.

Suddenly my nakedness was not my only concern as I realized that I wasn’t
were I thought I should be…in my body! I realized that I probably wasn’t
going to be able to get something to cover my body until I got back into it.
While pondering my dilemma I became aware of the most wonderful celestial
music and anything else suddenly became unimportant. I had to go and find
the source of the sounds. I saw myself enter into a tunnel that literally
just pulled me up into a different dimension. In this place I felt a sense
of peace and love that was completely familiar. Before I had totally become
acclimated I saw coming towards me hundred of light forms and realized that
they were beings that I knew and loved. I was surrounded in the presence of
love and in that love I was joyous. It was a celebration and reunion that
made my whole being sing.

After a time of joyous reconnection, I was told that I needed to return to
this world. Just the thought of coming back into this world brought about
feeling of tremendous pain and sadness…I refused to come back! In the
conversations that followed my refusal was detailed. I was reminded of my
mission and the purpose that I was born into this world at this particular
time. I was told that I had not completed what I had come to do and was
reminded that the contractual agreement was decided by me. I was very
concerned that when it was time to fulfill my mission I would have
forgotten, because I had already begun to forget so many things that I once
knew. I was assured that there where many events in place already to ensure
that I would not forget. When I stubbornly resisted, I was told that when
it was time a man would bring me a book that would be the beginning of my
remembering. I asked if I could see the book, it was The Course in
Miracles. Thinking that I could get a head start on remembering, I asked
who the author was and who had published the text? I was told that the book
had not yet been written but when it was time for that to be done the author
would be Jesus the Christ. I immediately went into a more determined state
of stubborn resistance and vehement protest. The next thing that I remember
I was falling and screaming back through that tunnel. Screaming, not
because I was afraid, but because I felt tremendous and overwhelming pain in
the separation from that loving energy.

When I finally awakened in my hospital room I still had the awareness of my
strange dream-like experience. The nurses came in to get me up and they
quickly pulled the covers off of me to discover to everyone’s surprise that
I was totally naked except for my
bright rust colored socks. (The nurses didn’t totally understand why I was
still wearing them either.)

The Course in Miracles was published in June 1976. The author is Jesus the
Christ as received by Helen Schucman and edited by both Helen and William
Thetford, Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University’s College
of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

In May of 1990, a very wonderful male friend, brought to me The Course in
Miracles. He knew that I knew of the text and he also knew that I had
stated repeatedly, for many years that I was not interested in studying it.
He explained to me that during his previous evening meditation a voice
spoke to him and told him that he should bring me the text, even though I
had clearly stated that I did not want it. I received the text. I remember
sitting and holding it and asking my inner voice exactly what I was supposed
to do with it?
I was reminded that I had been asking for an experience of peace and since
it was very obvious that I did not know how to get it for myself, I needed
to study The Course. I agreed, with the provision that if I did not find
peace by the end of the 365 days, that I would tear up the book and burn it.
The last thing that I wanted in my life was another book that said a whole
lot of words but didn’t provide experience or knowledge of accessing higher
realms of peace and love.

I completed the Course in May 1991, and it was the most profound, life
altering, spiritually expansive experience of my life. The journey since
that time, has brought me peace and a sense of oneness and love that I never
believed was possible in this world. In being willing to shift my
perception, everything has become a reflection of the immense love that God
has for all of his children and it has been a joy for me to extend this love
and message of the Course to everyone that I encounter.

The sole purpose of writing about The Course in Miracles is not to replay
the words that are already to eloquently written but instead to offer ideas
on how to live The Course in Miracles. Next months’ article: What The
