In last months newsletter I talked about moving outside of
our familiar zones, ‘our boxes’.  I’ve
heard from quite a few of you that you are finding that your “boxes” seem to be
expanding and collapsing on their own! 
It isn’t the easiest choice knowing that your life will change, not only
beyond what feels familiar but also beyond what you may believe is
controllable.  I’ve thought a lot, since
that last newsletter, on ways to experience this transition more comfortablyAfter all, who says that transitions have to
be uncomfortable experiences?

My inner voice spoke up and asked me “Do you remember
learning how to walk?” At first I thought it was a pretty ridiculous irrelevant question But the truth was I didn’t remember.Learning to walk is perhaps the most monumental
event in most peoples’ life yet it is one that we don’t remember.  Those fortunate enough to have been around
young children get to witness this wonderful event.  The moment a child grabs onto something and pulls itself up to
stand, every adult in the room begins to smile and applaud not only for the
child’s accomplishment but the joy on that child’s face is absolutely
contagious. The act of a child getting off its knees to stand begins the
transition between being totally dependent to developing new levels of freedom
in movement.

The child for a while needs help in navigating its’
environment and there are moments that bring cries of dismay and tears of
having not successfully achieved its’ goal of staying upright and in
movement. But every child eventually gets up to answer that call of mobility by stepping forward, pausing, often falling and pulling itself up to step forward again It is not long before that child is not only staying on its’ feet but is running, climbing and jumping. 
With time they are able to develop skills that enable them to use other
forms for a greater ease and freedom in movement: bicycle, automobile,
airplane, whatever they desire!  But by
the time they develop these skills they have become like us…they have forgotten
the day that they began to walk.

Perhaps we have forgotten this monumental achievement
because we have experienced so many wonderful things as a result of walking
that it is easy to over look how limited our experience was when we
crawled.  Or perhaps the memory of a
young child is not sufficiently developed to remember crawling.  Perhaps there is in every child an innate

alarm-system that impels the child to stand up, and without
consciously realizing the significance, begins the journey of stepping into a
new environment of freedom.  Perhaps a
child doesn’t experience the transition as a challenge but as a wonderful
adventure.  So instead of fear they only
feel excitement.  Could it be that a
child “knows” that if it stumbles and falls there will be someone who comes and
picks them up, kisses the hurt, stands them back on their feet and assures them
that everything is fine?  Unfortunately,
we will never know why we have forgotten because we don’t remember. I believe that learning to walk is no different than movingbeyond our boxes. There is an innate/intuitive part of us that knows when it is time to get off of our knees
and move beyond the limited space that we have been experiencing We can trust that as soon as we get on our
feet that we can run, jump, climb and achieve our hearts desires If we stumble and fall God (universal goodness) will be there to pick us, love us and assure us that everything is
fine. We can chose to let go of the fear and instead look for the excitement in the adventure. We will learn to navigate our new environment step-by-step, one step at a time. 
In time we will have forgotten the box that, even though familiar, kept
us limited.  So how do you make it
comfortably through the transition of change? 
Just keep on stepping there are better things ahead!

The Nile Try to imagine …

Why not combine your vacation with the opportunity to gain CEU credits? This journey on the Nile is a wonderful way to experience the wonders and mysteries, as well as the archetectural splendor and beauty of Egypt. The tour alone is a phenmonal experience but with the Yoga, presented by Lou Ellen Sherrill, makes this tour a dream come true.

Tour Itinerary Day 1 – Arrive in Cairo!

Day 2 – Visit Sakkara, Zoser, Memphis, the Pyramids and the Sphinx, and other local sites around Cairo

Day 3 – Visit the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and the Khan El Kahalili Bazaar

Day 4 – Travel to Aswan, visit the Nubian Museum, Temple of Isis on the Isle of Phillae experience the Light and Sound show. Day 5 – Back to the Isle of Phillae and the Temple of Isis for inner work, journaling, contemplation and group sharing.

Day 6 – Transfer to cruise ship, visit Aswan High Dam, and the rose granite quarries and take a leisurely felucca ride on the Nile. Day 7 – The Cruise down the Nile begins. Stop at Esna to visit the temple and to shop for a Galabaya for the evening aboard ship.

Day 8 – The cruise continues with a stop at Edfu to visit the temple, through the locks and a stop at Kom Ombo to visit the temple and finally to arrive in Luxor.

Day 9 – Luxor, visit the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the temples of Luxor and Karnak.

Day 10 – Depart ship early for flight to Cairo – and freeway.

Day 11 – Group closure, discussion. Remainder of day is free. Depart hotel for airport late evening.

Day 12 – Depart Cairo for New York

The 26-posture, Hatha Yoga, Bikram-Yoga series was put together by Bikram Choudhury, whose first book was published in 1978. Dr. Sherrill practiced with Bikram in Beverly Hills, six days a week for six years. During that time, she has researched and presents to physicians and psychologists all over America, the medical and psychological benefits of Yoga that have been published in scientific journals (including the Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA). The results published in scientific journals from around the world include: the positive impact yoga has on carpal tunnel syndrome; tightened, knotted muscles; hypertension; Dysthymia; Anxiety; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; Substance Abuse; and many other physical and psychological disorders. The journals also report that it improves cognitive capabilities and academic performance. Bikram’s guru was Bishnu Ghosh’s brother, Yogananda, author of the world-famous book, Autobiography of A Yogi. As reported in the Yoga Journal, March/April 2000, “What makes his {Bikram’s} series unique…is the sequence in which the postures are done. According to Bikram, each posture in his series forms the perfect basis for the next, warming and stretching of the appropriate muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Although rigorous and challenging, it is renowned as a profound workout for the mind and body. If you want to know more about this series of postures to read on the plane, order Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class, published by Jeremy P. Tarcher/Putnam, New York, NY, 2000. Yoga involves physical activity of stretching and moving. The facilities we use will require that you sign a waiver asking you to accept sole responsibility for the experiential activities.

I was emailed this story and felt that it was important to share. I hope you enjoy its’ message.

A group of Geography students studied the Seven Wonders of the World.
At the end of that section, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World.
Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:

1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon

4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6.
St. Peter’s Basilica
7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, quiet girl, hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.” The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.” The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:
1. to touch
2. to taste
3. to see
4. to hear
She hesitated a little, and then:
5. to run
6. to laugh
7. and to love

It is far too easy for us to look at the exploits of man and refer to them as “wonders” while we overlook all God has done, regarding them as merely “ordinary.” May you be reminded today of those things which are truly wondrous.

May journey to Egypt was wonderful.

July16th-30th: Journey Into the Soul of Peru/Bolivia:

This journey has the intent, of supporting each individual with an opportunity to embrace more of who they are spiritually. Through group meditations, times of contemplation, ceremony/ritual and an opportunity to release old patterns and programs, participants can make changes that will support their spiritual goals.

Tour will begin in Lima, Peru and will include Cusco, The Sacred Valley, Machu Pichu, Puno, a boat cruise on Lake Titicaca and areas in La Paz, Bolivia. Cost: $3150.00

Peru& Bolivia Itinerary July 2003

Day 1 Arrive in Lima Peru

We will stay in a Hotel in Lima until our flight leaves for Cusco. Hotel will be determined.

DAY 2 CUSCO

There will be a short reception, where we will be served cups of mate de coca, while we wait to check into the hotel.

13:00 Group Introduction and Tour Welcome

13:45 We will leave on the Cuzco City Tour. This tour includes the major sites of historical interest in Cuzco, such as the famous Inca fort at Sacsahuaman, and the temple of the Sun. Also included in this is a tourist card, giving you access to all the sites in the Cuzco area as a whole (i.e., including outside of the City itself). The tour finishes at 18:00. (B) Group discussion and meditation. Time to shop or browse in Cusco.

DAY 3: Sacred Valley Tour

The Sacred valley tour includes: Bus service to the market of Pisaq, visits to Calca, Urubamba, the ruins of Ollantaytambo, and the market at Chinchero. There will be an English speaking guide, and lunch in a typical restaurant in Urubamba. At 18:39 you arrive back at the Hotel. Group discussion and itinerary answers.. Meditation (BL)

Day 4: Machu Picchu

05:30a.m: We will leave with a packed lunch and a guide to the train, which leaves

At 06:00am. At 09:10 we will arrive at the Agues Clients Station, where we will take a 15-minute bus ride to the ruins of Machu Pichu. Once there, we will have a guided tour, with an English-speaking guide. We will spend the night at the President Hostel in Ague Client. Spiritual connection, we will gather and have a sort discussion & group meditation. (B, Box lunch)

Day 5: Day of Leisure in Machu Picchu

We will leave Ague Clients at 15:00 by train, arriving at Cusco at 18:25. We will spend the night at our Orquidea Real Hostal. There will be a time for shopping then, we will gather and share our experience of

Machu Picchu. The meals will be on us for the day.

DAY 6: PUNO

We will leave for the train station at 9:00 a.m. It will be a ten-hour train or ride to Puno, across the scenic high Andes landscapes only dotted by small villages and herds of the llamas and vicuñas. Be sure to have your camera and plenty of film. Also binoculars are wonderful for a close view of the landscape. We will have lunch on the train. You will need to pay for this meal. Once we arrive at the Hotel there will be a place where we can also have dinner. Upon arrival we will transfer to Qelcatany Hotel. (B)

DAY 7: Free Day with Optional Tour (The cost is about $50.00 for those who would like to experience the islands.) UROS AND TAQUILE ISLANDS:

You will be picked up from your hotel 7,30 AM and after a 2 hours motorboat ride you will arrive at Uros island. Fishermen and hunters inhabit the floating islands of the Uros. The residents of the Uros use the cattail, a type of rush, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions that ensure that the islands stay afloat. The dense roots that the plants develop support the island. The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely humid because of the surrounding water. At present they speak Quechua and Aymara. Then you will visit the Taquile Island, including lunch in the co-operative restaurant. There is also a co-operative shop on the plaza that sells exceptional woolen goods, which are not cheap, but of very fine quality. Taquile Island is famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles. The island is narrow only about 1 KM wide, but 6 to 7KM long. On Taquile there are numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins and Inca terracing . You will return to Puno in the afternoon, overnight. (B,L)

Day 8 Puno: A day to explore the other sites of interest in the Puno area. (B)

Day 9 :Sun Island, Bolivia

We will be picked up from our hotel at 6:30 am. We will then go overland across the border into the colonial town of Juli, and the village of Yunguyo, July and Pomata, which were very important cultural centers in the 17th century. Their magnificent churches give testimony to that old splendor. We will arrive into Copacabana at approximately 9:30 am. This is the most important religious sanctuary of Bolivia. Thousands of pilgrims come to visit, every year, the virgin of Copacabana also known as Native Madonna. We will then visit the main square and the impressive Cathedral (1/2 hour tour). We will then proceed to the Sun Island. Sun Island has been identified as the birthplace of several revered entities, including the sun itself. A source of magnetic energy, it is considered to be the vortex of the Earth, and the cradle of the Inca Empire. We will visit:

-The Inca Garden, the islands’ micro-climate provides the ideal location for this garden, which during Incan times was full of Andean-flowers, water and trees.

-The Inca Steps that were built by the Incas in order to reach the Inca Water spring

-The Inca Water-Spring, a natural water spring with 3 different openings of different tasting water. This Incan made water fountain is supposed to be a source of eternal youth.

-The Sun Island Ethno Eco-Complex that contains the largest amount of archaeological items found in the island and the largest demo variety of Andean flora and fauna available in Bolivia.

-Sun Island North side Land Tour (2 hours):

-Challapampa native village and Museum, the most isolated and unspoiled village in the Lake and the archaeological museum that displays ancient artifacts.

-Chinkana Inca Holy Temple, the island’s most spectacular ruins complex. The main feature is the Palacio del Inca also known as “El Labirinto”. The maze of stonewalls and tiny doorways, overlooks a lovely white beach.

-Sailing on a typical native fishing boat. These wooden boats are basically used for net-fishing. Carrying about 6 people, the native captain rows or wind sails, if it is possible, depending on the weather condition

-The Sun Island Kallawaya Ancient Ceremony, witchcraft’s, natural medicine,art, magic, and millenary traditions are part of the mystic world of the Kallawayas heritage. The purpose of this mystic ceremony is to purify the souls of the Chinkana holy temple visitors, this Ceremony takes place in an Inca altar at the top of the hill facing the temple and overlooking the lake.

Day 10: TITIKAKA LAKE CRUISE

After 3 hours of spectacular catamaran cruise, including lunch on board, we will arrive in Huatajata where we will depart to travel to La Paz (by bus). During the route, at The Strait of Tiquina, cars buses and trucks are loaded, on wooden barges, and ferried across the strait. We will arrive in La Paz at 5:30 pm, and spend the night at the Hotel Gloria La Paz. (B, L,D)

Day 1l: LA PAZ: FREE DAY: OPTIONAL TOUR OF THE CITY

We pick up passengers from the hotel to visit a typical Indian Market, the

Famous, Witch Doctor’s Market and the San Francisco Colonial Church, built in 1744. The tour continues by the Plaza Murillo where the Cathedral, the Government Palace and the National Congress buildings are located. Then, you will visit the famous colonial street “Calle Jaén” along with the museums located within the old colonial La Paz, followed by the visit to an archaeological temple from the Tiawanaku Culture. To change scenery, the tour continues to the residential areas of Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida. After a lunch in a typical restaurant, the tour ends with a visit to the unique Moon Valley, overnight at Hotel Gloria (B,L)

Day 12: TIWANAKU RUINS

Pick Up from the hotel to visit the former Capital, which began around 700 AD. During its’ time of splendor the Capital of Tiwanaku was the largest in the world and considered to be “the Cradle of American Civilization”. This site of pre Inca ruins has started endless archeological debates about the age of this site but and the radiocarbon test have verified that it was began in 1,580 BC. On the way you will pass the town of Laja where La Paz was founded in 1584.

Day 13: Arrive in Lima.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport where we will take our flight back to Lima. The remainder of the day is leisure. This is a wonderful time to explore Lima.

Day 14: Our flight will leave very early in the a.m, heading back to the states. Exit visa money handy in U.S. dollars.

we will go through customs in Florida or Huston/Dallas/Fort Fort Worth. More detail will be available to you once you have made a deposit.
