In the last month I have received numerous emails about prayers for peace. I think we all know and have had some experience of the power and effectiveness of prayer.

Prayer works and with mass consciousness focusing on peace in Kosovo, I know that there will be an appearance of peace there. But I can’t help but wonder if the prayers are for conditional peace; a process that we are undertaking to “fix” something or someone over there. Conditional peace is a state of being were there is an appearance of calm/cessation of war. This type of peace rarely lasts because the true cause has not been resolved. Where minds are not peaceful there can not be lasting peace.

Prayer, then, is just the first step in a greater picture. In asking for peace, through prayer, it is important to be willing to take that next step…becoming a peacemaker. The most effective prayer for peace will be from those individuals who are willing to become daily advocates for peace. A true advocate of peace is an individual who is willing to have peace be present in their minds. Many individuals following a spiritual path know that what we think is projected and ultimately is created. When a mind is full of judgement, criticism, blame (toward self or others) that energy is projected out in the consciousness. The idea that when enough minds are holding similar thoughts those thoughts are experienced throughout our world (critical mass consciousness) no matter what the makeup of the thoughts are! How long have we, as part of the global consciousness, projected thoughts of guilt, shame, blame, criticism etc. out into our world? Is it really any wonder that the world we see is reflecting a lack of peace? So the question needs to be asked by all minds that want peace, are we willing to have this continue?

Can we expect to have peace in our world, when there is a lack of peace in our homes, jobs, families, and in our minds? We have set a global stage of consciousness where the major roles are being played by victims and aggressors. The ones who aren’t currently playing either of these roles are fearing that any moment they might be called on stage; or sharing their previous role as victim; or hiding their participation as an aggressor, which is of course a direct result of being a victim. On the stage the drama appears very real. The actors all play their part because they have forgotten that it is just a “role”. It is not who they really are nor is anyone really having fun! So why does it continue? Because many minds have forgotten that peace is power.

Being an advocate of peace means being willing to become powerful/empowered. It means the willingness to let go of all thoughts that would keep you a victim. It means a willingness to take responsibility for the thoughts you think, for the energy you project out, for the life that you are living. Your life is a sum total of all the thoughts you have been holding, nurturing, and manifesting. If you don’t like your life, the world, your relationships, your job etc. THEN WHY DON’T YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND!!! A true advocate of peace is willing to change their mind. It means a willingness to know that there is enough of everything for everyone. It means a willingness to give and in the giving know that receiving is a natural, predictable,
