JOURNEY
INTO THE SOUL OF PERU
It
was mid-March and late at night, but in the Lima (capital) it was
hot and humid. We went to our accommodations for the night
and the first morning flight we were on our way to Cusco, the ancient
capital of the Incas’. There were six of us traveling together
with individual agendas as to what we wanted to achieve. As
for myself, in addition to the opportunity for an adventure, I was
seeking for a greater connection with my Source and a clearer understanding
of my mission. The year was 1997.
Cusco is situated approximately 11,000 feet high on the Andres range.
The city is filled with old Spanish Cathedrals and surrounded by
the ancient ruins of the Inca and remarkable temples,
Koricancha, the temple of the Sun. In Cusco it is very easy
to begin to connect with the energy of Peru. In Cusco is the
beginning of the old Inca Trail on which messages were delivered
by runners to Machu Picchu ( distance of about 30 miles).
Our
group took a train to Machu Picchu. A long the way we had
the wonderful experience of viewing the pastoral life and people
of the land. Many of the scenes, throughout Peru, were/are
awe inspiring. Arriving in Agua Caliente, at the foot of Machu
Picchu, we took a bus to the top of the mountain (13,000 ft).
The aqua-duct system, it has been drilled through rocks and a water
source that is 2 miles away, for moving water is still in
place and functional. The many temples, staircases, towers
and palace ruins are in the process of restoration. There
were many spots where the energy was tremendously powerful (the
Sun Dial and priest sacrificial chamber).
From Machu Picchu were traveled south again to the City of
Puna. Puna is the city of ancient
folklore and is situated on Lake Titicaca. Puna is surrounded
by many wonderful ancient and sacred sites. The Uros people
are descendants of the original inhabitants. Their home, for
many, is a floating island in the lake.
Continuing
south from Puna we traveled on to Coco Cabana, Bolivia. It
was from here that we were able to take a boat to the Island of
the Sun and the Moon. Both of these islands hold some wonderful
temples and very uniques energies that I have not experienced anywhere
else in the world.
For me this trip opened up a level of my soul and intuitive
knowing that I had not experienced previously in my life.
This experience help me to integrate, to a greater degree, my male
energy
as a powerful, protective and dependable part of my inner
psyche.
