Since my last newsletter I have received numerous calls with questions that could only be answered by “stay present.” The answer seems almost too simplistic and may not seem to answer the asked question or concern at all–which may be the cause for much confusion! I have come to the conclusion that even though the phrase, “stay present,” may be familiar, it is not really understood by many. What is often preceived as “staying present or being present” is a mind that is rapidly moving back and forth between the past and the present. It is accomplished unconsciously! It has become such a habitual way of thinking that thinking in this manner is given no thought at all. In fact, It is believed that such a manner of thinking is really being present and aware. The “present” has become a place that many do not know how to get to, nor are they aware that getting there brings tremendous rewards and gifts!

So where is someone when their thoughts are flipping between yesterday (the past), and tommorow (the future)?
1). They are unconscious and unaware of their surroundings, their feelings, and most certainly their thoughts!
2). They are in a place where there can be no dependable guidance or answers.
3). They are in a place of confusion and despair, the “void’.
This place may feel comfortable, peaceful and familiar. There usually aren’t any thoughts about changing the experience…because for many, it is just they way things are. There usually isn’t any thoughts about changing this experience until the needed answers do not appear. But even when the “void” is uncomfortable, most will seek the guidance of the only voice that they believe that they can hear…EGO! The ego will not tell its’ real idenity…it will pretend that it is the voice of God or some other highly placed celestial being. So if the answer proves to be false, then the blame can be placed somewhere else. Ego will give many answers to most questions or concerns that are asked, while pretending to be someone else. The ego will assure the questioner that their answer is the correct one and will bring the results that are needed! The egos’ realm of power only dwells in the confusion state, that place where the mind is flipping back and forth from its’ yesterdays to its’ tomorrows. So many are deceived in receiving the ego’s guidance.

The alternative for change and new direction can be found only in the “present”. What is the present? The present is a state of mind that only focuses on what is before it, moment by moment. Being present means stilling all thoughts about the past or the future and totally letting all other thoughts go. This will bring an immediate sense of clarity to the mind. Which I guarantee won’t last for long. Why?
(1). We have been taught that stillness, “being present,” is not the natural state of the mind.
(2.) We have believed that minds think all of the time which directs their doing, accomplishing, achieveing in order to take care of all of the earthly needs and some of the desires!
(3). We have been taught that we can not trust a “still” mind to accomplish and subtain us in our worldly journeys.
So instead of seeking the “present moment” awareness we have run from its presence. In fact, we have run away from the very thing that will bring us true guidance, comfort, peace and deliverance from every need, challange and obstacle that we face. We have run so fast and so far from the “present”, that we have forgotten that it exists except as some sequential time designator. And…
(4).we have become habitually familiar to the voice of Ego.
The Ego reminds of us out past and assures us that if we don’t remember the past our future will be devastating! It asks how can we learn our lessons so that we can have a better future unless we remember our past!

What is blatantly wrong with the Ego’s argument is that the past has gone, been gone, and forever will be gone. There is nothing we can do to change the past. Any lessons to be learned must be done in the present moment. Any changes that can be accomplished can only be achieved in the present moment. The idea (thought) that there is something that needs to be done is wrong…rather instead, there is something that is needed to “be” or “become.” “Doing” is about the future or the past but is never about the present moment. “Being” or “becoming” is always related to the present moment.

Being consistently present may be one of the most difficult states to achieve. It may need to be practiced. Remember, the state which your mind is in now, has been practiced over many lifetimes until it has become habitual! So habitual, that most have become unconscious of this state and like many habits it will take some persistence and determination to begin to have a different experience. Those who have developed the habit of meditation, in the stillness, may have an easier time with this practice. But one must be diligent in the practice to have a different experience of their world and of themselves! What is the purpose? What can be gained?

I spoke earlier of the rewards and gifts that are available in the present that will transform your every day reality.
(1). Hearing the clear voice that will lead and guide you throughout your every moment meeting every need and answering every request to bring you greater peace and joy!
(2). Becoming increasingly aware of the beauty and wonders of all good things around you everywhere. It has always been available but through your mind confusion you couldn’t experience the wonders or receive the gifts of an abundant Universe.
(3). Healing on all levels; mental, physical and emotional will become available for you…effortlessly.
(4). You will move beyond the place of wondering who you are to the beginning experience of who you are. In this aware state you will remember and the remembering will bring you peace…because the remembering will not be from your past or hoped for in the future, the remembering will be a knowing, beyond time, space and dimension of who and what you are and have always been.
(5). You will experience fully the love of your creator…A love that embraces the beloved without any limitations.
(6). The Ego voice will become decreased until it fades away into the nothingness that it always was and your true voice will become the voice that directs you and governs all of your affairs with loving kindness. (7) You will come fully into your full power as a Son of God…through the energy of love and in the presence of peace you will reign over all things.

The present can offer you everything. It is a choice….everything or a confused state with little of nothing. How long can you settle for so little? How long will your non-existent past and your hope for future content you?

I believe that you deserve more….

Blessings,
Danielle

Thank you for answering my questions about the role of the past and the future while “staying present.” Until you explained it to me, I couldn’t make sense of it.
I hope others will receive the same clarity by sharing their questions with you in a ‘comment.’
